BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Micha has an MFA in Costume Design. She began making masks as costume pieces, expanding into creating masks for their own sake. Micha has created costumes for several community theatres, music videos (some shown on MTV), Princeton Childrens Theatre, and various school productions. She also spent two years working for the McCarter Theatre in Princeton. The west coast call was too strong, Micha and Bucky had to return. Micha continues to work occasionally in community theatre, but enjoys the freedom of expression in working as an individual artist.

Bucky has a background in Mechanical drawing and a love of architecture. Both are reflected in the detail of his paintings. Although he has little formal training in art, he has developed a unique style that reflects his interests and the study he has done on his own. Bucky's first published artwork was a pen and ink drawing used for the menu of a restaurant in Berkeley's "Gourmet Ghetto". He continued drawing, eventually adding color, and defining his style over time. Bucky's most expansive piece so far, is a 12'x4' mural that was commissioned to spruce up the outside of a house in the Berkeley hills. This piece was done with acrylic paint applied using piping bags and cake decorating tips, incorporating just over 9,000 beads as well as copper work.

Initially Bucky was reluctant to delve into the leatherwork. He began by using the mask making technique to make sculpted leather jewelry. After several years of encouragement, he also began to make masks, and Micha began to make jewelry. Now they share the media and each has the other's creations as inspiration.
